Adventures!

Once upon a time, a little knitted doll who sat on a dresser in a pretty country bedroom dared to dream.

Tired of listening to the clock tick-tock, tick-tock in front of her, she decided that she would have adventures... But how?

"I can't just jump down from here and walk through the door," she thought. She looked over to where her friend, Elvegren, was sleeping. "Now there's a thought!"

Elvegren awoke feeling strangely alive, tingling almost. She stretched as she yawned and climbed out of bed. Pulling back the velvet curtains, she blinked at the beautiful sunshine streaming in and bathing the room in a warm glow. Her eyes were drawn to Little Red, her doll, that stood comfortably on her dresser. There was something different about her, the way she faced perhaps? Elvegren walked over and lifted her up carefully. "You're wasted up here you know. No one ever sees you except me."

Downstairs, Little Red watched silently as Elvegren drank her coffee and ate her cereal. Next to her was a small, blue book. "That's what I should do today," said Elvegren, as she tapped the book of 'Bathampton Walks'. "A good walk in the woods. I could try and find the tree house!" Little Red felt herself tremble slightly, "Oh how I'd love to see that!" she thought. Then something remarkable happened. Elvegren looked straight at her, almost into her soul, and, with a massive grin on her face, said, "Oh what a marvellous idea! I could take you along Little Red. People would love to see you explore the woods..."

As Elvegren disappeared upstairs to get ready, Little Red could barely contain her excitement, "At last," she thought, "I'm finally going on an adventure!"
